Episode One - Freedom!

It was just after mid-morning when the naval vessel docked in Blackmoor, disgorging the slaves that they had rescued from slavers of the Temple of the Frog. The freed slaves were taken to a table at the docks where they were greeted by an arcanist named Gaaron the Damned, whose eyes seemed to be pits of hellfire coals.

Each of the former slaves were given a 30-day Visa, allowing them freedom of movement within the Ducal lands, a small velvet pouch containing 5 GP, and a voucher for a week of food and lodging at the Laughing Ogre Inn.

A group of the freed slaves headed to the Laughing Ogre Inn, where they were greeted by the innkeeper, a former adventurer named William DuSane, his ward the half-ogre Thrud the Philosopher, and Shonda the Tiefling bard.

As a Wood Elf, Xaran was escorted to the Sheriff's office, where he was questioned closely; when they were convinced he was not a spy or saboteur, he was released and joined the others.

The ex-slaves ate a meal of goat stew and small beer.

The adventurers were:

  • Thorin - Hill Dwarf Cleric of Bahamut
  • Trista - Magical Creature who commands sorcery!
  • Cassian - Sylvan Elf Druid
  • Nyrissa - Half Elvin Sorceress
  • Pantera - Tabaxi Swashbuckler
  • Xaran - Elf Barbarian

Trista and Nyrissa struck up a friendship with the bard, who supplied them with clothes to replace the slave tunics, and more importantly, footwear! Panthera inquired with the innkeeper about work, and was introduced to Farthingdale the Cheese Merchant. Farthingdale agreed to take them on as caravan guards on the road to Glendower and back, paying them in advance so they could purchase some cheap arms and armor from the pawn shop.

The party is pretty sure that Farthingdale uses a disguise kit to appear the way he does.

Somewhere Xaran discovered a two-handed axe. Nobody could say where nor when, exactly...

City of Blackmoor

On the way to Glendower, they were attacked by a team of goblin raiders, who died while trying to steal the cheese!

The road to Glendower

The current Baron of Glendower is a paladin of half-Elvin descent, who serves as the protector of the agricultural village of human and halfling citizens.

At Glendower, they discovered that there was a 5 SP bounty on goblin heads, and a 100 GP reward for the Goblin Bandit leader! The area had experienced several raids, burning the farmsteads and taking prisoners near the edge of the woodlands north of the city.

Glendower

Farthingdale is willing to delay his return to Blackmoor, giving the party a chance to deal with the goblin depredations!

(125 EXP for role play and goblin death!)

  1. A child of the Wildwood, Xaran was singularly a misfit as an elvin youth. He preferred the axe to the sword, the javelin to the longbow, the club to the dagger. When the battle rages took him, his confused parents arranged for him to go to Blackmoor for training amongst the humans. Surely there he would find his place.

Appearance: Rather short for a wood elf, Xaran is extremely muscular, considerably more than is usual for his race. By elvin standards, he's quite rough looking, but humans consider him comely enough. His best features are his long red hair and the tattoos which curl down his shoulders and arms.

  2. As a boy, Thorin grew bored and restless tending his father's sheep. His father constantly scolded Thorin for being lazy, and he grew depressed.

One evening he was tending his flock when a glow appeared the horizon. Soon he was facing a gold dragon and was terrified that he and his sheep were about to become dinner. However, the dragon then spoke to him:

I am Sonngrad the Wing, messenger of Bahamut. I come to tell you that he sees great potential in you and calls you to follow him. You must confirm your devotion by venturing into the world to fight the forces of evil.

Once you have completed this quest, you may undergo the Rite of Rebirth and join Bahamut's legions in his fight against Tiamat and her spawn.

Background - Pantera de la Vega

(OOC information.  Pantera has one non-expiring Inspiration point!) Pantera de la Vega Orphaned as a kitten, I was adopted by a band of pirates looking for a good luck charm. As I grew up, my skills also grew as I learned thievery, swordplay and acrobatics while serving under the captain. Soon, I became not a mascot, but a valued member of the crew. I also learned that there can be honor among thieves. While we suffered no guilt at relieving bloated merchants and royalty of their riches, I also watched my captain distribute food and clothing to the local street urchins at each port of call. It was ingrained in me that those that can protect themselves must strive to provide aid to those unable to do so. Unfortunately, good things tend to come to an end. One soon to be fateful dawn, we left dock and sailed into cold and foggy weather. The crows nest called out the sighting of a trading ship riding low in the water. But as we turned to bring our guns to bear, two escorting corv...

Episode 4 - The Road to the Duchy of Ten

Having traveled the swamp and fought a bullywug  slaving raid, the party finds itself in the lawless freehold of Lake Gloomy. They spend a few days training, shopping, and suffering the bad food available in the local inn. Farthingdale the Cheese merchant pays for their in room during their stay. The bard at the inn, Ecthelion the Bard, is... horrible. His tips amount to barely enough copper to afford a day's food and beer. The party meet and dismiss the local bookie, a human with a pair of half-ogre bruiser bodyguards. They head out on the road to the Duchy of Ten when seven humans appear on the road. They ask for sanctuary from the LizardFolk raiders they claim assaulted them and stole their foodstuff-filled cart. Sure enough, a score of LizardFolk appear, pursuing them. Trista called to the LizardFolk in Draconic, and established a parlay. The LizardFolk wanted the seven humans for extradition; they were "ver-mish!" (slurred "vermin"). The humans transformed ...
